All these themes are closely connected to the overall aim of creating social justice and balance and they are closely interlinked with each other: The effects of climate change are worst in regions inhabited by some of the world’s poorest populations anyway. For example, in many sub-Saharan communities in Africa children are forced to work to help support their families. They barely have the opportunity to attend school and thus are deprived of any chance of a promising and independent future. In many of these areas the families lack access to clean water, which means diseases and infections can spread quickly. Ecological disasters like floods or droughts can easily lead to loss of home and livelihood.
