They are going to live in tomorrow’s world. They will shape the world of the future. But they, more than anyone else, are also the ones who need our support and protection now so that they can grow up to become strong partners for a future worth living in and living for. Therefore, helping children and young people is very dear to Active Philanthropy.
We believe that all children in the world deserve a fair chance to discover and enjoy their inner potential and be happy. To live a dignified childhood, children need a protected space to grow up in, where they have the freedom to be themselves and where they can discover themselves and the world. They need values, role models and incentives to learn and develop fully, no matter whether they live in Europe or anywhere else in the world.
The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child is a key tool for the protection of children. It secures the right to education and healthcare but also the right to play. Governments have agreed with the Convention to implement these rights into national law. Nevertheless all around the world children grow up hungry and in poverty, cannot visit a school at all or are exposed to an inefficient education system, are forced to work, to fight as soldiers or are sexually abused.
Working with and for socially and economically deprived children and youth, promoting equal access to good education for every child and establishing far-reaching means of participation for this generation are issues that are of special interest for the Active Philanthropy team. We want to work together with you to ensure that children can enjoy growing up in Germany, in Europe or in any other country of the world.
